There are very few people left in the world who need to be convinced that climate change is an important issue. We’re racing towards concrete points of no return, and struggling to come up with solutions that will save future generations from immense struggles. This is particularly frustrating given that when the issue of climate change was first discovered, oil companies made every attempt to stymie discussion of the topic. This includes a decade of overt disinformation and lies on the part of the entire industry. Climate Disinformation engages the audience in a discussion about widespread societal disinformation as it pertains to this period. The exhibition does this in an effort to provide context for the climate crisis, and uses it as a case study to examine the long term damaging effects of deceit and disinformation in the public sphere.
